Designed specifically for the non-traditional student, the online program in criminology allows those who are currently working, or who are not geographically located close to campus, the flexibility to take coursework while balancing a busy schedule that can lead to the completion of a bachelor's degree.

For students who choose to pursue the criminology major, careers to consider include law enforcement officer, detective, child welfare caseworker, crime intelligence analyst, victim advocate, corporate security specialist, private investigator, and social services case manager. Admission Requirements

Coursework/Program Requirements

To graduate with a major in criminology, a student must meet the following requirements:

  • Complete a total of 36 semester hours in criminology.
  • Make a grade of C or better in the three core courses: CCJ 2020, CCJ 3011, CCJ 4700.
  • Maintain an overall GPA of 2.0 and receive no more than two grades below C- in criminology coursework.
  • Complete the requirements necessary to earn a minor or second major in another department or program, or complete the requirements for the internship in criminology.
  • Earn at least 27 (of the 36) semester hours in CCJ coursework directly from the College. (A maximum of 9 semester hours may be transferred into the major)
  • Fulfill the CLAST requirement before being admitted to the College.
  • Fulfill University requirements for the Bachelor of Science (BS) degree.

Please note: Fifteen (15) hours of coursework taken as an FSU non-degree seeking student can apply toward the bachelor's degree.

    • Florida Resident: $297.50 per credit hour*
    • Non-Florida Resident: $321.91 per credit hour*
      *Add additional $20.00 per semester for mandatory Student Facilities Use Fee
  • Live in Bay County (Location code 88) as a:
    • Florida Resident: $265.50 per credit hour
    • Non-Florida Resident: $289.57 per credit hour
  • Live outside of Leon, Gadsden or Wakulla County (Location code 85) as a:
    • Florida Resident: $265.50 per credit hour
    • Non-Florida Resident: $289.57 per credit hour
